Training... what are we doing to train you ask?
Well I've been trying to walk more. The last couple of weeks I walked or went to the YMCA five out of every seven days... So I guess that's better than nothing. This past weekend Dewey and I met some friends out at Joshua Tree National Park (near Palm Desert--Palm Springs) and we hiked two great trails.
Sunday - we hiked Lost Palm Oasis, 8 miles, ~400 feet elevation gain, ~4 hours round trip (note to Meg: How long was that walk again?)
Monday - we hiked the Art Smith trail, 6 miles, ~1000 feet elevation gain, ~5 hours round trip. (note to self: check the Qstarz for the details)

The hikes were wonderful! The desert is at that perfect stage between full flower bloom and desert scorch. We were even surprised by running into this guy....

If you are reading this blog for the first time...
...become a Follower. Not that you may be the least bit interested but probably more in case we go "missing" or "get lost". Then when the authorities come a calling you can say "Last message I received was when they were crawling through the vineyards of the Rioja region -- drinking wine of course!"
Something to note when reading our ramblings, the "Map" is in test mode at the moment. The production version will be in place right before we take off (sometime in late April). In the meantime feel free to click the link below it and take a closer look. Heck even look at it in satellite mode maybe you'll see us some where out there.

Training for the walk...
Today I walked 2 miles in preparation for our "long walk". I'm going to try and walk every day, some days short walks (1-2 miles), other days longer walks (3-4 miles), once a week, hopefully 6 miles.
